Flat spirit wicks
The most common wick used for oil lamps and gravity lubrication. Our wicks are either woven on British looms or are rare, original wicks.
To work correctly a wick must fit neatly in the burner slot, too large will damage the winding mechanism, too small will result in poor burning or a risk of fire..!
Our forefathers designed oil lamps and heaters to operate at their most efficient. There is a limit to the hight a wick will lift a fuel and burn correctly. All our wicks are supplied to work correctly in the specified burner from our extensive archive of information, our prices are per cut wick.
When ordering, measure the wick slot, not the fitted wick as the wrong wick may have been fitted in the past !

 Tubular wicks
Used in heaters and oil lamps, particularly those with a 'centre draught' burner. Here air is drawn up a centre tube right through the fuel tank to supply the inner edge of the tubular wick to give the best combustion.
Traditionally tubular wicks are measured 'flat', that is pressed flat and measured across the tube giving half the outer circumference.
It is vital that the wick is the correct fit between the centre tube and the outer wick tube where the flame is created. Not only must the flat 'width' be correct but the thickness of the wick wall is also vital.
All of our wicks are either manufactured to exact specification for particular burners or are original wicks.
